The Shard offers 28 storeys of some of the most superb workspace available in the world, with unrivalled views across London and beyond.
The 55,800sq m (600,000sq ft) of office space is designed to be contemporary, technology enabled and effective. The result is simple, efficient, flexible space finished to the highest specification, and providing a variety of working environments.
In August 2006, Sellar Property announced Transport for London as the building’s anchor tenant. Transport for London will occupy 17,650sq m (190,000sq ft) of office accommodation on floors four to ten inclusive.
The Shard’s office floor sizes range from 2,915sq m (31,379sq ft) to 1,343sq m (14,456sq ft) which, combined with a highly efficient floor plate design, give tenants maximum value for money.
Transport for London’s move is seen as a way for the organisation to make efficiency savings and reduce costs by bringing staff together from multiple premises across the capital.
Each office floor contains a number of naturally-ventilated Winter Gardens. These break-out and meeting areas allow occupants to enjoy natural light and air in a multifunctional, fully-occupiable space within the office.
Used extensively in Renzo Piano’s Aurora Place development in Sydney, these areas have proved to be a welcome innovation within the modern office.
